About 600 students attend the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium. The students are between the ages of 10 to 18 (grades 5 to 12). In their final year, they take a state examination to receive the "Abitur" (which may be compared to the French "Baccalauréat" or the Italian "maturità").
The school is situated in the center of Bad Harzburg, a small village with about 23,000 inhabitants, on the border of the Harz national park.
